Researchers want to identify the best ways to help pregnant or postpartum TRICARE beneficiaries in the San Antonio area manage their weight during and after their pregnancy.
If enrolled in the Moms Fit 2 Fight study, participants will be asked to make approximately 7 visits to the Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center (WHASC) or San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC) Obstetrics (OB) clinic. The first two visits will be a screening visit and a baseline visit to determine eligibility. Enrolled persons will be asked to attend 5 additional follow-up data collection visits, scheduled at gestational Week 32 and Week 36, as well as at 6-weeks, 6-months, and 12-months postpartum. In addition, individual phone sessions with a counselor are a main component of this program.
The Moms Fit 2 Fight staff have various degrees and diverse backgrounds, but one thing that they have in common is a passion for helping people achieve their goals. They have extensive training in how to help others manage weight and make changes in dietary intake and exercise. They are experts in creatively working through challenges that arise. They look forward to forming collaborative partnerships with Moms Fit 2 Fight participants!
